Even if you are at high genetic risk for Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, a heathy lifestyle can reduce your chances of developing the disorder, a new study in JAMA found. Among people with high genetic risk for dementia, those who had a healthy lifestyle were 32 percent less likely to develop it than those with an unhealthy lifestyle. The researchers defined four factors contributing to healthy lifestyle: smoking status, physical activity, alcohol consumption, and diet.
